How to send your Zippo product for repair (and tips for its safe travel)

Note: these instructions are for Canadian customers only.  For US customer please refer to zippo.com.

Package products securely in an oversized box or padded envelope (large packages are less likely to be lost or mislaid). Include name, address and telephone number on a note inside the package, as well as the complete return address on the outside of the package. Do not attach anything directly to the product, including:

  • Address labels or tape.
  • Rubber bands.
  • Safety or straight pins in the package.
  • (All of these can cause damage to the finish of your Zippo product).

Our Repair Department performs excellent repairs at no charge. Please do not attempt to perform repairs yourself, as it could damage the product beyond repair. Do not attempt to re-glue emblems yourself as the product may be further damaged in an attempt to remove the glue.

All lighters in need of repair should be sent to Hydes Distribution, located in Niagara Falls, Ontario via by drop off, or mail.

Please note that due to government regulations, Zippo is unable to return your original inside unit to you. Should you wish to keep your original inside unit, please remove it prior to sending your lighter to us. Please note that a new inside unit will be inserted into your repaired Zippo Lighter.

Refund Process

Upon receipt of products, refunds will be processed to the form of payment used on the original order.

Refunds will include product and sales tax amount only. In the event that an incorrect item was shipped, or if products were damaged in transit, we will also include shipping charges in your refund.

Lighters: Remove the flint from the lighter, and allow the fuel inside the lighting mechanism to evaporate for two or three days before mailing.

BUTANE Lighters: Please be advised shipping butane filled inserts is considered a dangerous good by Canada Post.  Please contract support@zippo.ca to ensure the insert is empty of butane first.

To empty butane please follow:
In the same area that you would fill with butane, grab a pen (or something with a finer tip) and press on the small pin area.  You will hear some air being released from the insert.  Hold until you can’t hear anymore air releasing.  Repeat this process a couple times until air is no longer releasing when being pressed down. Be aware escaping butane will be very cold.
